Milestone's parent company is Fuji Lighting Co., Ltd., a fishing tackle manufacturer specializing in lighting, which is celebrating its 104th anniversary this year. As some of you may know, their headquarters is located directly across from the concept store "milestone TERADACHO."

I, Shuhei Nishioka, am the younger brother of the third generation founder, but to be honest, I'm not very good at fishing.

Although that wasn't the main reason, 10 years ago I launched the milestone brand, shifted my focus from the sea to the mountains, started hiking, and became fascinated with fastpacking and trail running, and now I enjoy mountain activities to the fullest. Before I knew it, I had gained enough stamina to complete a 100-mile (about 160 km) trail running race, and I feel like I've become completely immersed in mountain activities.

During this time, he learned about "fishing" in the mountains, also known as "mountain stream fishing," and began going to the mountains to "fish" with his friends, with whom he always runs and participates in mountain activities.

The main target fish are yamame, iwana, and amago.

There are many different ways to fish in mountain streams, such as tenkara, fly fishing, and lure fishing, but I personally enjoy lure fishing. *Staff member Yoshida (nicknamed Yoshi) enjoys tenkara because he is style-oriented.

On a different note, I have a friend who I used to work as a salesperson for a fishing tackle manufacturer over 10 years ago. Four brands formed a group called "Holiday" across the boundaries of their respective manufacturers. *Everyone except me was a fishing professional.

He plans interesting things with like-minded friends, and everything is completely self-produced and self-written.

Our activities received support from many quarters, and for the second event we received an offer from a fishing magazine , and for the third event we received an offer from Honda, the maker of that car , to make custom parts for the Holiday model, and we planned some interesting things. *Even so, I don't like fishing, so I enjoyed hanging out with everyone.

Let's go back to the original topic. The other day, I was chatting with Mr. Kishina, one of the members of Holiday, and we got on the topic of going stream fishing. Mr. Kishina is the owner of a brand called magbite , and more recently he is also the representative of a company called Yamanami Shoten , which makes products specifically for stream fishing.

He is the creator of "capture," a useful tool for taking photos of fish you've caught, which is becoming increasingly common these days.

With him as my guide, I followed his advice on everything from where to cast to when to reel the lure, and I caught a fish on my second cast.

I broke my personal record by a large margin. I never thought I would be able to catch such a big fish... I caught a beautiful 46cm rainbow trout.

Born as the son of a fishing tackle manufacturer, I feel like I finally understand the joy of fishing. I think I can keep it up. In fact, I feel like I'm already hooked.

It was fun to go fishing with friends I've known for many years, and I'm really happy that I ended up catching some fish. It would be fun to have a session with my current mountain friends and friends from my days at the fishing tackle manufacturer, so I'd like to go again. The OMM LITE BIKE event starts tomorrow in Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture. If I have time, I might be able to go fishing before or after, so I'll bring my fishing gear with me.
