For all of you who regularly use our products, as well as those who are considering purchasing one, we would like to explain a little about "waterproof performance." Generally, electronic devices, including headlamps, are divided into two types: "splash-proof" and "waterproof."

Before a product is released, a waterproof test called "IPX" is conducted by a third party to determine the above. This involves pouring a certain amount of water onto the device and testing to see if water seeps inside. Generally, IPX4, 5, and 6 are considered "splash-proof," while IPX7 and 8 are considered "waterproof."
So how do you test a "waterproof" product?
First, place the product you want to test on the turntable. From a short distance away, spray water on the product with a hose. Adjust the amount of water coming out with the hose nozzle (hole size) to determine the level you want to test. In other words, when testing for IPX6, the amount of water used will be greater than when testing for IPX4.
Next, how do you test a "waterproof" product?
This is tested in a water tank, as the main premise is that water will not get inside the device even when it is splashed with water. Waterproof testing measures the "depth" and "time" the device is submerged in water, rather than the amount of water.
This has been a long introduction, but at present, our lineup only offers headlamps that are "waterproof" to IPX5 and IPX6 levels. Of course, this is clearly stated on the packaging and in the instruction manual.
I hope you will use it correctly.
In the future, we also plan to develop products equipped with a "fully waterproof function" that can be used safely even in harsh conditions such as adventure races and marine sports.
This has been a long message, but we hope you will continue to support Milestone products.
