This series is a project in which Hagiwara, who runs with the duo (Nishioka & Yoshida) who created the milestone items, listens to them and delves deeper into their stories (as he runs with them on #WednesdayBudouzakaRen).
・The third taste
Nishioka (hereafter: Nishi): Good evening, everyone! This is Nishioka from Milestone! Today, I'd like to introduce...
Yoshida (hereafter Yoshi): Ah, this is Nishioka in video mode (laughs).
Hagiwara (hereafter: Hagi): I did record it, but I didn't have to strain my voice that much to record it (laughs).
Nishi: Huh? Not right? (laughs) There's a lot of material to cover today. I wonder where I should start.

Hagi: I'm curious about this new label.
Nishi: That's right. We've just released a new beer. The label design was done by Tom, an American designer, just like before.
Hagi: Your name also appeared in the previous episode (episode 13) , "Doo-Bop T-shirts."
Nishi: I think this is the first time I've explained about beer here. The first ones were "Pale Ale" and "W-IPA (Double IPA)."
The 5.5% alcohol pale ale features an illustration of someone running through the mountains in the daytime.

The W-IPA has a high alcohol content of 9% and is meant to be enjoyed slowly at night, so it has a headlamp on to evoke the image of a mountain at night. If you drink it during the day, you'll end up drunk (lol).

Yoshi: It contains twice the amount of hops and malt, so it has a rich flavor.
Hagi: It puts you in a good mood even during the day (laughs).
Nishi: And now, we have the new Monkey IPA. The label has an image of a snowy mountain. Until now, the monkey was running towards the mountain in the distance, but this time it's coming towards us.

Hagi: Ah! Are you wearing the Cloud Hoodie because it's cold?

Nishi: You really noticed that. That's right. I hope you enjoy those little details while drinking.
Yoshi: "Monkey IPA" has an alcohol content of 6%, and has a nicely balanced taste that's right in the middle.
Nishi: The manufacturer is Minoh Beer, a pioneer of craft beer. We have a good relationship with them, and the president himself came to our store opening reception party and opened the bottles for everyone to enjoy.
At the moment, the beer is not available online and is only sold at milestone TERADACHO physical stores.

Hagi: If you're selling online, it would be good to have gift sets.
Nishi: There are now three different flavors, and we also have a box set that you can enjoy comparing them. Please feel free to send us emails with your requests (laughs). We'll be happy to consider them.
After running at the "Monthly Teradacho Jogging Club" held on the third Thursday of every month, everyone enjoys lively conversation over beer.

Yoshi: They drink our drinks even when we're open on the weekends. I'm happy for them to come and drink on weekdays too (laughs). People who come from far away buy our drinks to drink on the Shinkansen or as souvenirs.
Nishi: We have other new items that I'd like to introduce to you.
- Five new hat colors
Nishi: The hat will be released in five new colors. The base is MSC-018, commonly known as the "Yoshida model" (laughs). This is the version where "LIGHTING YOUR WAY" is not written on the inside of the brim, but is written small on the back of the head. This is number 018. We've added three new colors to this style. Beige x Red,

Gray x Olive,

Then all black.

Yoshi: This was the first project I did after joining the company. Of course, the standard design is "LIGHTING YOUR WAY" on the underside of the brim, and it's very popular, but some people said they wanted something a little more "silent," so we added a small inscription at the back of the head.

Personally, I like that style, so that's the concept behind the design. It's rare to add three colors to the same product number, so we took a bold step.
Nishi: It looks great. And it's the classic MSC-013 .
Yoshi: It's the full mesh number 013 that everyone loves.
Nishi: I tried making an all-white look. I'd always wanted to do a white look, but I thought it would either look really bad or really cool. When the sample came out, I went for the latter. I showed it to the shop staff, and they responded well. I guess that's what everyone was looking for. I thought it might be too sporty, but it turned out to be good. Haha.

Yoshi: The black of the logo and woven label really stands out and gives it a sophisticated look. I was confident that the all-black design would work, but when Nishioka-san said he wanted to do an all-white look, I was a little worried, wondering if it would be okay, and whether it would come out as something crazy (laughs). But when I saw it, I thought it looked really cool.
Nishi: It all worked out for the better. The YouTuber Gachio was coming to Osaka and was scheduled to do a talk show at milestone TERADACHO. He's often worn milestone caps before, so I knew he had several colors. I asked him if he could wear the new all-white color at the talk show, and he said he'd wear it at the Osaka Marathon too! In the video he uploaded, he was wearing it all the way to the Shinkansen on his way home, so I felt his love. I was so happy. Gachio! Thank you! You can see the video of Gachio from that time here !

Hagi: The T-shirts from Gachio's original brand , Project G, were also white, so it was just right.
Nishi: You even managed to complete a sub-three hour (full marathon) in the rain, that's amazing.
Yoshi: The talk show was also exciting. There was also a short lecture on running.
Nishi: Milestone TERADACHO has two caps that are only available in physical stores. MSC-010 is black and MSC-013 is sunny red. We're adding another color, khaki, to this 013.

Nishi: The normal logo is white text on a black background, but the store-exclusive version is a white label, so it's black text on a white background. We're doing it as a souvenir.
Yoshi: When I meet them outside, I can say, "Oh, you came! Thank you so much!" (laughs)
Nishi: Since the logo is white, the side mesh is also white.
Hagi: It's great to have exclusive items that are only available here.
・Pentagonal T-shirt
Nishi: This is also a collaboration T-shirt with everyone's favorite STAMP . This is the fourth in the series. We talked about the collaboration in the 8th episode of "Oshi! My." We've got the circle, triangle, and square parts.
Hagi: The shapes in the illustrations change every time. They teased that the next one would be a pentagon.
Yoshi: Last year, our inventory sold out quickly too.
Nishi: The body is nice, the design is good, and I think it goes well with milestone. It's a shame that this will be the last time (laughs).
Yoshi: Will it be the last? (laughs)
Nishi: It seems that STAMP had read what I wrote last time, and he pointed it out to me (laughs), saying, "Did you think this was the end?" I'm glad everyone read it.
Yoshi: That's very kind of you.
Nishi: The material is smooth and comfortable, so it can be worn daily. The design this time is more like hiking than running, and features an illustration of a male and female model passing through rocks in a pentagon.

Yoshi: The colors are nice too.
Nishi: Titanium black and lime green.

Hagi: Is green a new color?
Yoshi: Actually, the base green is also printed.
Nishi: The fabric itself is a heathered gray, so I really wanted to make it white, but they said they couldn't do that.
Hagi: It seems like you need to use white fabric or print white separately first in order to print.
Yoshi: That sounds professional (laughs).
Hagi: Well, it's my job (laughs), so it's printing on paper.
・Measure the bag
Nishi: Next up, we have new colors for our utility bag . What's great about this bag is how much it holds.

Yoshi: It holds at least 20 liters. When I made it, I wanted to write down the specs, but I couldn't figure it out.
Nishi: It wasn't made with the number of liters in mind.
Yoshi: We measured how much capacity there was. We put a garbage bag inside the bag to prevent water seepage, and then Nishioka and I each filled a bucket with two liters of water at the sink and poured it all in.
Nishi: I think it held a little over 20 liters.
Yoshi: It was supposed to hold 20, so I thought, "Any more than that would overflow! That's bad!" and gave up (laughs).
Nishi: I first had a classmate's mother make a sample for this bag. She had a clothing alteration shop nearby, so I asked her, "Hey, I want to make something like this with this fabric, can you do it for me?" I used that as a starting point, and after using it myself, I felt like it needed a little extra flair, so I added inner pockets on both sides. That turned out to be great. It has a lot of storage space, and can fit a 500ml water bottle or a long wallet. The inner pocket can be packed away, and there's also a key loop for attaching a carabiner.
Yoshi: It really works well and is excellent.
Nishi: We originally started with two colors, moss green and sand beige, and then added carbon black.
This time, there are two colors: Romanée Grape (grape color) and Ice Blue, which is similar to the Storm Blue of the Onion Hoodie.

Yoshi: Since it's an eco-bag, the color names are based on things found in nature.
Nishi: I think I can go with about 30 more colors (laughs). You can use it to go to the supermarket or for everyday use, and best of all, the lace means you can put a backpack inside. I like that the bottom is a little wider. What shape is it? Trapezoid?
Yoshi: Rice ball shaped? It's bulging at the bottom. That's why the multi-containers can be stacked, which is really convenient!

Nishi: We also went through a lot of trial and error with the shape, and had a lot of discussions with the lady. At first, the opening was wide, so I was worried that things would fall out when I put it on my shoulder. There also seemed to be excess fabric on the top. So I asked her to give it a slight angle.
Yoshi: Before I knew it, the initial sample had become my commuter bag. I've been using it for about a year now. It's really easy to use. The seams are starting to tear and the fabric is getting thinner, so it's showing its age.
Nishi: If people are using it this much, it was worth making it. The name was good too. It's not a multi-purpose bag (laughs). (For more details, see Part 2, Part 2)
Yoshi: It's easy to call upon utilities.
Nishi: It's on sale at your local milestone retailer. It's stocked in almost all stores that sell apparel. If it's not in stock at the store, just ask the store owner if they have any utility items. I think it'll arrive the next day (laughs).
Yoshi: It's always good to have more.
Nishi: It really helps when I go to the supermarket.
I have one announcement to make regarding our utility bags . These are made overseas, but due to the cost of materials, shipping, and even exchange rates, we have no choice but to raise the price. I'm sorry to say this, but starting Monday, April 1st, the regular price of 2,500 yen (excluding tax) will go up to 3,000 yen (excluding tax).
・T-shirts that can be used as canvases
Nishi: We've created a new T-shirt with an original body. The slogan "LIGHTING YOUR WAY" is printed in two colors for the first time. Until now, it was usually printed in one color. Designer COVER painted the slogan on the wall of milestone TERADACHO. It was a new design.
Hagi: The illustrations for Teradacho Jogging Club were also done by COVER.

Nishi: Yes, there are two colors of T-shirts this time, one with a warm white beam and one with a warm white beam.

It emits a white beam and uses a font that looks like it could be found on the prestigious jazz label BLUENOTE.
Nishi: I had pattern maker J draw an original pattern for me. I also dyed it in an original color.
Yoshi: I've always wanted to make a T-shirt that was made with the fabric, color, and shape that milestone thought was best. We've finally created something like that. First came the performance model Doo-Bop and the wool DayBreak. We went for a freedom sleeve design that would appeal to people who like vintage clothing. It's the same sleeve design as vintage sweatshirts.
Nishi: Sample the good old stuff.
Yoshi: The performance model Doo-Bop is designed for racing, so we can't print it in multiple colors, but it gives us a good canvas for everyday wear. I think we'll be able to put a variety of designs on it in the future.
Nishi: I'm looking forward to it. At first glance it looks like cotton, but it's 100% recycled polyester. The print is also very intricate, and it's made in Japan, from development to production.
Yoshi: The price is 7,000 yen (excluding tax).
Nishi: By the way, we need to decide on a name for this new T-shirt. The material and shape of the body are perfect, and it will have a variety of artwork on it, so how about something like "milestone original 'canvas T'"?
Yoshi: Oh, that's good!
Nishi: It would be great to collaborate with various artists. Maybe even photography...
Nishi: By the time this article is published, some items will already be on sale, and new items will be released even after this. We've created a "NEWS" section on the top page of this milestone where you can find updates, so please check it out for the latest information. I'm sure there are some people who don't use social media.
I'm really grateful that this year marks the 10th anniversary. There will also be a talk show with Junki, a UL hiker (ended March 8th),

I'd like to hold a variety of events as well. If I had to pick one keyword for the future, it would be "daybreak."
(There's more to talk about, so I'll stop here for now... "Stop recording.")
This time, they introduced a lot of items, including beer, hats, collaboration t-shirts, bags, and original t-shirts. There's just so much more to talk about. I also heard that they're preparing a new catalogue. I'd love to get one and check out the latest information.
Well, it's not getting any warmer, and I can't wait for spring. I'd like to start new activities in the new season, but on a personal note, March is the end of the fiscal year and a busy month. I'm not going to let the busyness get me down, so I'm going to wear some new colors to lift my spirits. Spring is surely just around the corner. So, please look forward to the next post.
